CONSULTING AND NEGOTIATIONS
Twin River has been consulting with and negotiating for First Nations, Metis, and Aboriginal organizations for many years providing services that include land claim negotiations; infringement negotiations; Treaty Land Entitlement negotiations; environmental assessment participation and representation in NEB and AERCB hearings; and land planning consultation including housing developments, property selection, and asset appraisal.
Dr. Jim Tanner began providing economic development and business consulting to First Nations, and progressed to assessing losses from infringements by hydro-electric and oil sands plants. Twin River consulting has represented First Nation claimants in many major negotiation processes including Long Term Benefits Agreements; BC Hydro Infringement Negotiations; negotiations with Energy East; Agricultural Benefits negotiations. Dr. Tanner helped negotiate the agricultural benefits agreement for First Claimants, which will likely be worth over 1 billion dollars to First Nation communities.
Other consulting by Twin River includes assisting with the appropriate treatment of Traditional Knowledge (April Tanner); implementation and training for GIS systems (Terri Quintal, Fred Taylor); the organization of consultation processes; assistance with funding applications; community training in TLU and interview methods; and assistance with general Band organization.
