James (Jim) Tanner
Principal Consultant
Dr. James Tanner is the founder and partner of Twin River Consulting. He is a Canadian Economist who has dedicated 20 years preparing for and participating in environmental and socio-economic assessments representing First Nations and Métis Organizations in Canada in national and provincial regulatory processes. His specializations are in traditional knowledge and traditional land use studies, socio-economics and the preparation of cumulative impact assessments in the context of Aboriginal values and rights.
Jim’s expertise’ evolve around Aboriginal Law, Economics and Economic Anthropology. His educational background include an M.A. (Master of Arts – Economics) obtained from the University of Alberta; an M.B.A. (Master of Science in Management) obtained from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge Massachusetts; and a PhD. obtained from the University of Calgary culminating in his thesis topic – “Why Labour Works: The Valuation of Subsistence Economies.” The formulas and ideals presented throughout this essay are paramount to our Rights based studies and has been upload to this site for your perusal.

Jim is married to Cathi and they have two daughters, Caroline and April. Jim has worked as a consulting economist in the oil fields in Canada, the USA and Colombia. When he was younger he spent time in Europe competing in tennis and learning French.
Julie Haskill

An experienced, award-winning Communications professional, Julie specializes in social media, media relations, brand/reputation management, graphic/web design, and strategic communication planning and implementation.
Julie thrives on the unique challenges and opportunities that arise from facilitating online client/customer relationships. Well-versed in the fine art and fundamental math of new media management, and with a keen insight into the continually evolving fabric of the social web, Julie is adept at connecting clients with their customers in meaningful and lasting ways.
An avid listener, lateral thinker and accomplished writer, Julie has more than 10 years of progressive experience helming strategic communications, marketing and public relations initiatives for private and public-sector organizations. She understands driving human motivators better than most, and has leveraged these insights into the development of authentic and ever-expanding online client relationships.
Julie has studied New Media Production Design, Digital Marketing, and Communications at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.
When contracted to assist with First Nations projects, Twin River always involve representatives from within the First Nation community to either head up; interview; or coordinate our projects. This is an essential aspect of ‘capacity building’ and provides the Band with a legacy from the project.
